It’s almost impossible to keep up with the political changes happening in the Middle East, but you can always count on Kim Ghattas’ articles to help understand what’s going on. The Beirut-based journalist is an opinion writer for The Financial Times and The Atlantic and released a book in 2020, Black Wave, which explores the Iranian-Saudi rivalry. This week, Ghattas was named as one of The Washington Post’s next 50 thought leaders in various fields shaping society in 2025 and was praised for her contributions and coverage of the Middle East’s treacherous wars and politics.
Quoting Jason Rezaian:
“Her journalism hasn’t stopped any wars yet, but it has contributed immeasurably to the rest of the world’s understanding of the treacheries of the region – those that are both homegrown and internationally imposed — and the horrific toll they continue to take on the local populations. [Source]”
A well-deserved praise and recognition.
