Koura locals are planning a major protest against the cement factories on February 4. This is not the first protest of its kind as they’ve been demanding for years the government to ban cement exports over health concerns. The protest coincides with World Cancer Day as organizers are calling it a “National Day for Cancer Martyrs”.

I hope their voices will be heard this time. They’re claiming over 1000 people died from cancer due to these companies’ poor practices. One thing is for sure: these plants shouldn’t be located on the coast next to village but in remote areas and they obviously need to be regulated.

On a less serious note, I love how creative their slogans!
