I don’t know how I missed that but apparently Lebanese Jews are the only ones allowed to vote for whomever they want under the Orthodox law,. To be honest, this law is the dumbest thing I’ve seen in years in Lebanon. I think we should email the Colbert Report or Jimmy Fallon and ask them to talk about it.

The law is not stupid but the mere result of the sectarian system.
Whoever refuses the orthodox law, under a sectarian system, is just being a hypocrite or an opportunist.
The previous law made a double feudal system, the geographic one (i. Jumblatt in Shouf, Hariri in Beirut, Berri In Nabatiyeh) and a sectarian one (Aoun for Christians, Hassan Nasrallah for Shia, etc..). The new law removes the geographic feudal system while keeping the other sectarian one.
And no, it is not true that if you remove your sect from your ID then u can vote like Jews because the reference is always the Persons Registration No (Raqm al Qayd), that is, a christian wife married to a Muslim can vote for Muslims because she is registered under her husband’s Persons Register.
