The new Minister of Education and Higher Education, Rima Karamé, issued a circular today for all public schools, institutes, and educational establishments, stating the following:

– The Lebanese flag should be permanently raised on the buildings occupied by public schools, high schools, and vocational institutes.
– The Lebanese national anthem should be sung every Monday morning, before students enter their classrooms.
– Any party flags or symbols should be removed from the school buildings.
– All school, high school, and vocational institute directors are requested to comply with this circular.

This is an excellent decision, and I hope it will be enforced as soon as possible, especially the part regarding the banning of political flags and symbols, as they have been polluting several public schools and universities.
