The 113 points that Mouttahed basketball player Mohammad el-Akkari scored against Bejje will probably never make it to the Guinness book of records or any sport record, because the whole game was a scam. As you can read from this article, and from what I heard about the game, El-Akkari was simply standing on the 3-point line and his teammates kept passing him the ball while the Bejjeh players were standing still.
Added to that, the reason Bejjeh key players did not participate in the game is because they haven’t been paid for the past three months if not more. In such cases, the team should withdraw from the game not let in a bunch of inexperienced kids.
The funny part is that no one has a footage of that game, so we can’t even prove that he scored them and even LBCI was not there to film the game as it was an unimportant one. Let’s just hope this game won’t reflect negatively on our league.
the game was filmed and LBC has a copy, but they are not releasing it. they will show some footage on sunday on their sports magazine show.
by the way the game wasn’t a scam as you are stating, i was on court, the only problem was that Bejjeh were playing with their bench players.
in the first Quarter Akkari was on fire, and had a great percentage on 3points (6, 3points in Q1). i can also confirm that in the 1st Q there was some defense on him, and he managed to make his shots.
in the 2nd Q, he continued his high percentage shooting, this is when all his team mates got behind him, and tried to beat the 2011-2012 lebanese league single game high score (47 points Spencer from riyadi).
in the Q2 he had 5, 3points
so in the first half he only had 11, 3 points = 33points
in Q3 Moutahed, was still aiming to beat Spencer number of 47 points, but Akkari was still on fire and made 13 3points + 9 points in Q3
shooting 13 3 points in a single quarter (10min) is not easy, even in a training, players (lebanese) don’t have such high percentage .
i think we should give the player some credit, he managed 32 3pointers in a 40 min game, even thought in the 4th quarter he was not returning to defense , and was getting all the balls from his team mates
I asked LBC and they told me they didn’t film it. As for the game, a game that ends 173 to 140 is not a serious game and should be investigated. I know people that were on the court as well and who told me theguy was standing on the 3 point line and waiting for the ball. That’s ridiculous.
this is a link of the match
lol looks like your contacts at LBC didn’t tell you the truth Najib.
If u notice the interview was done the next day. I think they probably got the footage from the team or the federation.
I think its sad that even in a victory such as this one, we can’t find it in our hearts to unite behind one player who actually achieved something quite remarkable, not just nationally but internationally. We should stop looking for reasons to take away his glory and congratulate him and our country for this victory. We are a sad country and we will always be.
If you let Messi score 20 goals in one game in La Liga to set a record, people will question the game more than doubt Messi’s skills.
Akkari is a very good 3-points shooter in Lebanon if not among the best, but we are part of a professional league and a regional league and such a game is not gonna raise our level but make the asian federation question our league.
I am sorry to say this but if we were part of a professional league (and a regional league), we wouldn’t allow a team to play like that to begin with. Correct me if I am wrong but these guys were playing top 8 right? So maybe the Asian federation SHOULD question how we are managing our teams. Let us consider that he didnt score these points and create all of this buzz and they won the game. Would anyone have made any issue of how Bejjeh played. It would have been just another game that Moutahed won. Would that be ok?
Bejjeh is not a bad team at all and had some good games at the start of the league. The problem however is with their management who did not pay the players for the past 5 months which is almost 75% of the season. A as result, the players refused to play.
Even if no one is defending him when he’s taking a 3 point shot, that’s still impressive. Not anyone can score that many 3-pointers and succeed with such a high percentage.
