Mtv Lebanon won’t be covering activities that give Lebanon a bad image anymore but is certainly ready to make the voice of every civilized citizen heard!
First of all, a professional television should be covering all events regardless of whether they give Lebanon a bad image or not so it’s wrong to just ignore certain events.
Second of all, I’ve been watching MTV news lately and the reports they’ve been showing on the situation in Lebanon were far more damaging to its image than some tire-burning and blocking-roads demonstrations.
Last but not least, this initiative should have been introduced back in May before the summer season. It’s too late for that now. [YouTube]
I think one of the producers watched the most recent episode of HBO’s The Newsroom and decided to copy them. What they misunderstood from the show was that The Newsroom took the decision to focus on the real news as it is and as it happened and not to dramatize it or events just for TV ratings. They did NOT decide not to cover a news story because it might reflect badly on the country.
So if I understood this correctly MTV will no longer talk about accidents, speeding, murders, strikes, no electricity, corruption, racism, shootings, illegal checkpoints, demonstrations, plane crashes, slow internet, religious divide, political divide, assassination attempts and food poisoning? Because really anyone of these will give Lebanon a bad image.
MTV isn’t a PR agency they’re a news agency and they should cover the news as it is. Does MTV’s new decision remind anyone of the Syrian TV station that seems to blame everything on external forces and terrorists so that the country doesn’t look like it’s being toppled?
…and they think we get the Lebanon’s “bad image” from their reports? Self delusional!
LISTEN MARK YOU AND YOUR FRIEND NAJIB WHATEVER IS YOUR NAME 2 ADMINS,
AT LEAST MTV DECIDED TO GIVE SOME POSITIVE NEWS FOR THIS COUNTRY AS AND IMAGE YOU DONT WHAT DOES THIS GOVERNMENT HAS DONE FOR THE COUNTRY WE HAVE A BUDGET ATLEAST SINCE 6YEARS NO PRIME MINSTER OR GOVERNMENT HAD THE WELL SLOW INTERNET THIS WAS A INTERNATIONAL PROBLEM ALL AROUND THE WORLD THEY HAD INTERNET BLACKOUT’S LAST WEEK ORANGE MOBILE NETWORK AND INTERNET PROVIDER IN FRANCE HAD A 26HRS NOBODY NAGGED , RACISM WE FIGHT RACISM BUT YOU CAN’T REMOVE IT’S SORRY TO SAY IT’S IN OUR SOCITY WE LEBANESE NEED TO FIGHT IT TOGETHER. SO GIVE CREDIT FOR THIS PEOPLE STOP NAGGIN WE HAVE A AMAZING COUNTRY PEOPLE LIKE YOU ARE RUININ IT
It’s not MTV’s job to give positive news. A news broadcast is supposed to broadcast the news as it and they shouldn’t be filtering it or censoring it.
Slow internet is not an international problem its a Lebanese problem.

Lebanon ranks in 154th place when it comes to Internet speeds. And this is just internet speed we’re not talking about the ridiculously low monthly consumption limit that’s in place by the local ISPs.
I’m also sorry that you believe racism is a problem that can’t be fixed. Personally I believe it can, with a little education, a bit of time and effort by people like the Anti Racism Movement I think the amount of racism in Lebanon can be decreased.
So if you think people like us, people who care and want a better Lebanon are actually ruining it well that’s just your point of view.
Adel,
Amazing country? You don’t get around much; do you?
In France, every New Year’s eve, hundred of cars get burned in the “Banlieues”. The media decided to stop showing these images on the news, because the “casseurs” were proud of their work when the images were shown on TV.
Showing burned cars in the news = encouraging them to burn even more cars.
In this perspective, I can understand MTV’s approach.
Also showing some positive actions and interventions is needed.
actually, you will find that people look for good news and for the sources that sell them “happiness”. in other words, they want to believe the lie and they will buy it. I think people will start tuning to MTV.
