Quite shocking to hear such news specially that Nour was very active and fighting for quite some time the unjust accusations by the Military Court against him. You can read more about this case [Here].
Nour Merheb is a Lebanese Human Rights and Strategic Nonviolent activist.
Nour left a message on his Facebook around 3:30 am showing he intended to take his own life and apparently left a video explaining why he wants to end his life. [DailyStar]
Honestly, I find suicide as the easy way out of life’s problems and can never understand it.
May he rest in peace and may God bless his soul.
You should at least mention who he is since I’m sure other people like me have no clue who he is
Done.
this is so sad,very sad!
he commited suicide because he couldnt take it anymore, anyone would do the same!
[Maybe in another life nour, you will win your battle ]
Qwerty,
Couldn’t take what exactly?
May his soul rest in peace! However, it is never the case of [anyone would do the same]!
I got his from Lama’s scrapbook: http://lamathinks.blogspot.com/2011/09/did-nour-merheb-know-something-we-dont.html
“My dear friends,
I’m sending this message to explain what i did and ask you to stand up for your and my rights.
I discovered that life is a prison. we are not free. we don’t have a choice. Not even to eat, drink, feel or not!
I also discovered that life has a purpose: for us to breed! to transfer our gene.
However, i also discovered that there is one status of which we can be free. Really free. The state of not being.
I’m not depressed. I’m perfectly sane. i don’t take any kind of drugs. I have regular and frequent sex. i eat well. i work a lot 😀 lol! i achieved many things in my life… i loved and got loved…
I just decided to break free!”
After this, he just can’t ask people to stand up for their and his rights, when he decided to break free.
You don’t fight and fight for fighting and then commit suicide, it is not OK
What’s the reason behind his suicide? Is it related to the humanitarian work/activist things ?
it seems his suicide is due to being part of some atheist sect , thats what i read on some blog out there . His story is weird !!
“There is no refuge from confession but suicide; and suicide is confession.” Daniel Webster.
“After this, he just can’t ask people to stand up for their and his rights, when he decided to break free.” Paty
Paty,
when he was calling for help when he was alive no body listened! I bet you did not even know about him. And i bet you never want to know or do anything about his case or any similar case, because you, as I am are a part of a society of losers, who get constantly slapped in the face by our system, and somehow, we look at our rights and nour’s natural right as “their and his rights”, and ofcourse decide to do nothing about it.
darling wake up… we live in a shit hole… in a shitty and smelly country…. and yes it is time to do something about it!!!
and yes it is not acceptable anymore for the army to trial any kind of civilian… this is completely unacceptable… it is against our human right… specially that it follows a military law and not a civilian one!!! we are not living in a dictatorship… or are we???
Looks like he left happy and on his own terms. Guess he couldn’t wait to see whats waiting for us in the afterlife…
Leena, don’t pretend like you know me, to start with, and whether if I am interested/or not in knowing about his or similar cases.
And 2nd, you are absolutely right about what you said, and him fighting for human rights was the bravest thing one can do, but what’s the point of fighting if you want to bail on the rest of who are fighting mid-way? He was courageous and we all wish his soul to finally find peace, but that does not allow him to tell the rest to fight for their and his rights when he decides to stop, ok ana khalas ma ba2 bade kaffo 3ane, that’s what it sounds like. He was brave enough, but then he lost hope, not a message to send to the rest of us
Leena u gotta chill woman, don’t go attacking ppl bcz of ur frustration and don’t start betting crappy ideas. Nour left so khalas respect that and respect others as well
I know that human are free to do whatever they want! GOD gave us this freedom. But Also I believe that Only who give Life can take it and no one else! So I believe that GOD Gave us life and it is for him and under his own terms and timing to take it back from us!
I believe we are on earth for a transitory period! To live and achieve and then get accountable for what we did !
In my Believes I totally reject what Nour Did, i even refuse the idea and i would fight in order not to spread it and spread to opposite!
I dont think his problem was with his country, it was rather with the human race in general and the way we decided to live eventhough we can do much much better than that..(as a system and society i mean).
as for what choura2yak said; if he was hit by a car it would be god’s timing then?
I don’t beleive such a story, maybe somebody or someone forced him to write this letter and killed him
I think Nour did not Bail out as some people are claiming, some acts in life cannot but spoken but DONE. Which means and in my opinion it is not suicide which was committed rather then a sacrifice for the sake of the human race. Nour, and even though i did not get the chance to know him personally i totally understand this person, May his soul rest in peace.
E.G: i got violated many times by the lebanese military system and knows many victims of this dictatorial system.
But tell me people for HOW LONG?
” mafik ta3mil chi ma3o ma haida neyib”
” w haida mad3oum”
“w haida bil dawle”
“w haida mourefi2 ma ba3rif min”
“w haida bil moukhabarat”
and the list goes on….
why is it too much for HUMANS to act in a HUMANITARIAN way…
chexk this…

People don’t commit suicide because of current external factors, but because they are suffering internally and their deep [and old] psychological pain is unbearable. Nelson Mandela suffered GREAT injustice, torture, and long years in prison. He did not commit suicide. He fought… and in the end won. Because the most important thing in life is to get the love, affection, security and stability we need as children so we develop the coping mechanisms to help us face injustice/pain/problems later on. Nelson Mandela had a happy, safe, loving childhood. Nour suffered abuse, instability, and insecurity in his home. [If you have not read his note ALL Big Fires Start with a Little One, pls do] Let’s all face the reality and save the next person from suicide by helping them seek help and therapy.
