And we wonder how accidents happen in Lebanon. Dangling large steel bars over the road, whomever is in charge of constructing that building should be heavily penalized. This is in Achrafieh by the way.

You follow the exact same route i take sometimes to work (guessed your route from the pictures in different posts)! I guess we see each others everyday without knowing!
On my way to my preferred parking location, near Center Sofil, there’s not one, but two different construction zones I have to drive by, and each time I do, they have cranes lifting things and it makes me paranoid. I’ve seen a crane drop a bunch of cement blocks once, but thankfully, I’ve never heard of anyone getting hurt. So far.
One of our neighbors few months ago had a large steel bar fall on his car while he was parked near a construction site. He went into a coma and died few days later.
Say hi next time you pass by Elie 😛
Doesn’t all of Lebanon take the same route to work? Isn’t that why we have major traffic congestion?
This is one of my worst fears. I always look up and become 100% alert of my surroundings when I pass by any construction site. I used to think that this was the case in Lebanon only, but I discovered they do the same in Kuwait. I guess this will never be solved without any public lawsuits that would force contractors and owners to reach deep into their pockets if they compromise the safety of others.
@Mark..you’re funny.
The other thing that shocks me is the lack of safety standards for the workers themselves..It seems like every time I pass a construction site, the workers are engaged in some highly dangerous activity, drilling cement/cutting through steel, without any protective gear on! Are they insannnneeeeee!!
It’s obvious that construction companies and real estate developers couldn’t care less…and these poor workers obviously have no rights..this is so upsetting!
Those poor workers are in the first place illegal in the country ( coming from Syria ).
Let’s say its a situation workers & employers are benefiting from but at high risk.
Honestly.. I don’t care where they’re from. I care for their safety.
They don’t care for theirs, why should you 😀 ?
They don’t have a choice.
