I enjoy reading Communicate Magazine and we’ve been featured in that magazine quite a few times, but their top ten Lebanese blogs list in the December 2011 issue is very disappointing to say the least. Don’t get me wrong as there are some great blogs featured which I enjoy reading and follow daily but if the list is based on how consistent the blog is in terms of posts, some of the top ranked blogs in the list barely post once per month. If it is based on the blog’s popularity, some are so lousy they aren’t even ranked in Lebanon.
Put aside BlogBaladi as I am not writing this post because we weren’t included, but how can you make a list of Lebanese blogs and not mention the BeirutSpring or Trella.org for example?? Those blogs, along with few others, have been here forever, are daily updated, very interesting to read and are popular not just in Lebanon, but in the whole area.
I know it’s just a list, but given that the magazine has a whole section dedicated to the Lebanese Blogosphere, they should know better.
Update: Apparently the list is based on blogs related to marketing & communication only and the blogs aren’t in order. They should have mentioned that as it makes more sense now.
What a shame…Bidoun mujemale ur my #1 blog 🙂
I’m curious to know what’s ur top 10 list ?
what are their top ten? the picture u posted shows blogbaladi, is it in the top ten?
As far as I understand, Communicate magazine regularly highlights Lebanese blogs in their issues. You might consider some blogs more “outstanding” than others, but then again since this is a regular thing they do, they’re not going to feature the same blogs in every issue, and which ones they do feature, and in which issue, really is at their own discretion.
If memory serves me right, BlogBaladi, Beirut Spring and Trella’s blog have already been featured in Communicate, and if they haven’t, they probably will in the coming issues.
Now comes the question as to what’s really bothering you enough to make a big deal out of this on both twitter and in a blog post.. I’m not sure I can answer that. But here’s a nice piece of friendly advice: Nobody likes whiners, so don’t be one. You never know, people might actually start liking you more.
Cheers !
Fadi,
I did mention the blog was featured many time and I know they mention different blogs everytime. In fact, I like that approach as more blogs are exposed and encouraged to post.
Nothing’s bothering me and no one’s making it a big deal. There’s something wrong about many blogs in this list and this whole article and I mentioned it.
And FYI, I received a clarification that the blogs were marketing-based ones and were in no specific rank. Having said that, it makes more sense not to see many blogs I had in mind.
nevermind just checked their list. seems fair. their top two blogs are two of my favorites, the only other one i know is ginosblog and his is great as well.
it’s not about quantity though, you can have a great blog and only post once a month.
oops just realized i also know Joes box. didn’t recognize the name but recognized his posts from my RSS feed. his blog is also one of my favorites.
what’s so great about Gino’s Blog? it’s all about food and bar reviews lately… that i don’t even remember when was the last time he posted something interesting.
Well that’s his niche and it’s what I think makes his blog interesting and unique.
I live in Kuwait and came to know about Blogbaladi from Mark’s 248am website. With all due respect to all the blogs mentioned in your list now, none of them is anywhere eye catching or comparable to your blogbaladi. This is my personal opinion. Keep up the good work Najib and the rest of the team.
Naajiiiib, I made the list! Let me be happy 😛 hehe it’s my first time in the list! Plus, I hope you consider Ink On The Side as one of the interesting ones? 😛
Hi Najib,
I know this answer comes probably too late, but as you corrected, we featured only blogs dealing with marketing and communication in this selection.
And IT IS mentioned not only in the page’s intro, but in the editorial’s letter as well.
So, no hard feelings 🙂
Nathalie,
This whole post was a big misunderstanding and it’s looking as if I am upset that our blog was not mentioned while that wasn’t my aim at all.
No hard feelings at all. I love you guys 🙂
