I spotted this poster outside O&C Fresh Market in Jal el Dib. Amending Law 174 has been requested by a large number of restaurants in Lebanon, mainly Shisha cafés who believe they should have a license for indoor smoking. I’ve expressed my opinion on this matter several times; I am all for banning smoking in restaurants/pubs/hotels but there should be special licenses to Shisha cafés or cigar places or other places where people just go to smoke.
O & C ? that’s not even an arguileh place they should not demand for exemptions, THIS is nonsense that’s a restaurant, aren’t they at LEAST worried abt poisoning their food and products ? pff

Restaurants aren’t abiding to the non smoking law anyways. I’ve been to so many restaurants and bars where everyone is smoking indoors 3ade.

I totally agree, for arguile places for example, they should be exempted… anyone going in to an arguile cafe should expect smoke.. it’s like going to the gym without the intention of doing sports.. what are you doing there from the first place.
In short there should be categories were smoking is totally banned or accepted provided that the air ventilation is up to the standards
MOST of the places where they serve arguile have open spaces so let them serve outside there is no need for exemptions and make it complicated
coz if u give exemptions then EVERY restaurant will want that and will be smoking indoors then the law will loose its goal
