Ever since the Naameh landfill crisis, Sukleen has been tweeting online tips on how to recycle and how one can #BePartOfTheSolution but I don’t think that’s enough. A lot of Lebanese still don’t know how to recycle and there are barely any recycling stations or spots for them to go to. I don’t know who’s to blame really for this situation but something needs to be done ASAP.
I am preparing a post on Recycling in Lebanon and the recycling stations people could go to, so if you have any useful info I could use, please let me know.
here’s a great link

Many people don’t realize the recycling is happening right under here noses. For example, in my neighborhood of Achrafieh a small truck wih two guys goes around to every sukleen dumpster, pick out all the plastic and brow it in the back of the truck. There are metal and cardboard guys that go around as well, but not so often. What I do is separate my plastic, metal and cardboard separately and place it NEXT to the Sukleen dumpster. Try to do that when the dumpster is empty in order for the recycling guys to get there before the garbage truck. It’s not 100% efficient but it seems to well especially for plastics.
You should mention Ziad Abichaker and his efforts to repurpose material and trash – he had a talk at tedxbeirut 2 years ago and he’s got a green bottle initiative going now.
