Some of the best naturally preserved forest reserves are in Akkar, including Al-Chanbouq Reserve and Al Qammouaa (in Fnaidek) which are areas of rich biodiversity where you can find Cedar and pine trees as well as one of the largest Oak forests, characterized by its density & length, (غابة العزر) in the Middle East.

Environmentalist Antoine Daher has been sharing the beauty of these areas for years but also reporting violations and making sure these reservers remain untouched. Unfortunately, there has been a lot of violations reported, with the latest being the skinning and killing of a dozen squirrels in the Oak Forest.

While this may be a common practice among hunters, these are natural reserves that have to remain protected and untouched.
