Even though Capital Punishment is still legal in Lebanon, the last time it was applied was back in 2004 when 3 murderers were hung. There are currently over 50 criminals sentenced to death in Lebanon and waiting for The President of the Republic Michel Sleiman to either pardon them or sign the execution orders.
Personally speaking, I am totally against capital punishment and I hope the President takes the initiative to abolish it once and for all. The best way to punish these is by sentencing them to countless years of hard labor.
Nope ,the best way to punish criminals is to torture them ,we’re wayyy too easy on them, once tortured they’ll never raise a finger on anyone kzzz to be honest the human kind doesn’t get it otherwise
I don’t mind hard labor, as long as we have prisons that are of better quality and security levels and capacity. Our current system is a joke, so if they are dangerous, they are better off hung until we get a better system.
Before we get all self righteous and sanctimonious over this, let’s think about it economically — the criminal is a liability to his society and community and is also a danger to it. This liability will cost you millions of taxpayers liras to care for in jail until he rots not to mention that he’ll probably only get worse inside and will be living a better life considering that our criminals have a better wifi and food than most.
I completely agree with GR. I must say our prisons are overflowing and the freedom inside is so huge that criminal organizations operate from inside the prison and influence events outside.
It doesn’t make me barbaric if I say I am all for the Capital Punishment. It makes me a person who admits that taxpayers money could be better spent on Schools, hospitals, infrastructure, a solution for all the Syrian refugees etc.
