… For everyone’s sake!
We received an email from a reader sharing with us his experience while driving in Lebanon after having spent years abroad. He is not only horrified by the crazy Lebanese driving but mostly with the Lebanese’s take on the seat belt, be it front or rear seat belts. The typical response you get here on wearing rear seatbelts is “wallaw men wara kamen? bale7a!”
I must say that i did not appreciate the need for those seatbelts until i’ve seen those commercials and there are many more [Video1, Video2, Video3]. I wish only that our dear ministry of interior focuses further on promoting awareness on such issues and others like texting while driving before giving us speeding tickets for going 60 kph on a 50 kph road.
Thanks Ralph!
whatever dude, u never wear your seatbelt
I always wear my seat belt. If i didnt wear it once or twice with you, that doesn’t mean i dont wear it.
You would be a very optimistic person if you think that the MOI is going to start re-enforcing something it already decreed…The only reason they give tickets anyway is to fill a “ticket quota” – the videos are creepy btw.
Always Belt up whenever in the car, front or back, you’ll be doing yourself a favor… Just think about yourself selfishly, and putting a seat belt on would make a whole lot of sense…
I’ve been belting up since i can remember, it comes natural to me.
what disgusts me over here is parents belting up, but putting their month old infant in their lap while they are driving. and when you give them the look on the road, they look at you as if you’re doing some thing wrong, i just make a point and tell them “thumbs up” nice airbag you got yourself there…you &*^%&^$*($$&*($&$^##
