I first posted about this abandoned site back in 2010 and it has been the same since then. In 2012, it turned out that 18 million dollars of our tax money were gone to waste to build this complex. Yesterday, I saw a banner on the Naccache bridge informing us that works will resume soon to finish this project.
To be honest, I think they should just destroy the whole thing and stop wasting our money.
This will be the only covered 50m olympic swimming pool in Lebanon, and you ask to destroy it? why do you want to forbid hundred of athletes the dream to use this exclusive facility?
instead of calling to destroy sport resorts you should be calling to build more, more pools, more fields, more parks… more of these will shift the attention of our youth towards sport rather than killing fields!
But public misuse of funds to make such a pool is ok yeah?
well before u call for its destruction maybe u should ask the lebanese swimmers and athletes who dont have a decent place to practice or even compete…
i think we are just used to nagging about every single thing in this country without ruling out the good from the bad
It’s all about priorities; mine isn’t sports or swimming.
well Ali i respect the fact that its not one of ur priorities but unfortunately u dont live alone in a cabin so taking other compatriots’ priorities into account is very important
what public misuse? this pool was supposed to be functional years ago, it was stopped by a political “veto” because it carried the name of Emile Lahoud. personally I don’t give a f**k about the name, all I care is that it gets back on track so that swimmers use it 12 month/year! we need to build more champions than gun fighters!
