Winter is coming and a lot of families in Lebanon are unable to stay safe and warm. The #DafaCampaign is aimed at helping all those in need of heating, warm winter clothing, toys, electronics, food and others …
The campaign was kicked off by Journalist Paula Yacoubian and is taking place on Sunday November 1 from 10 am till 6 pm at Martyrs Square and donations will be distributed to organizations and families in need all over Lebanon.
What I like about this campaign is that it’s aimed at helping all families and is not restricted to refugees or Lebanese. Just to give you an idea, 3.3 million people are in need in Lebanon, half of them are Lebanese. Moreover, we had 61% more POOR inside Lebanon since 2011 and 1.5 Million Lebanese are below the poverty line.
#DafaCampaign is taking place in 8 days so there’s plenty of time for everyone to gather the stuff that they don’t need and drop them. Hope to see you all there!
Sorry, but from where do you take these numbers? I happen to work in humanitarian aid and neither ILO, nor UNHCR, World Bank, your government has reliable numbers on how many Lebanese got pushed into poverty due to the impact of the Syrian crisis.
Please be careful when using these numbers!!! I am sure no Syrian working in agriculture, at a gas station or in construction is ‘stealing’ the Lebanese their jobs as you wouldn’t go for them anyway.
Of course in the host communities in the North or Bekaa a certain pressure erupted, but lets not talk about 1.5 Million or 6% of the Lebanese.
No one actually has a clue on how many people live here dye to the lack of census…..
here’s the original post with all the sources and numbers

and the study

Please be aware that the UNESCWA data 2010-2015 are PROJECTIONS and do not picture the reality as we can see it now in LB. As you can see at UNHCR´s page, they revised their no. of initially 1,5 Mio. Refugees to 1,078.
Juggling with numbers is tricky here…
Good job guys. will spread the word as much as possible.
whether you are helping a 1,078 m or 1.5 m. let’s concentrate on the main purpose of the campaign 😉
well, due to the increasing nb of pple who are closing their sjops , we can say middle class and lower class got mixed and pple are getting poorer and poorer
Any numbers about shops closing? I just see new ones opening up and co existing next to the existing ones..
This whole debate is highly politicized, without any substantial numbers or studies.
Like this you enforce racism on some vague facts or random anecdotes….
Meaning 70% of lebanese are in dire situation …
