So Impact BBDO released the HD version of the commercial “What’s Greater Than Lebanon“, which was pretty cool, and entitled the HD version “Don’t go to Lebanon!”.
Now why would they do such a thing? Can anyone explain?

It’s a beautiful ad but I just see the whole thing misleading in the first place. As much as we would all like to see Lebanon flowing with tourists, now is not the best time for people to spend their vacation in Lebanon.
Because they’re right? Only a fool would want to come to Lebanon now… I love my country of adoption I really do! I’ve been here for 16 years.
But please tell me what would a tourist find here that he can’t find elsewhere in the world? Unfortunately Nothing…
Yeah yeah we know the cliches but it’s time to stop Bu**shi**ing…
I think it’s one of the best ads the ministry of tourisms ever done.
Dont go to Lebanon might be for irony’s sake. Most people are instagramming photos while having a great time in Lebanon and captioning it as “Dont come to Lebanon. Its not safe” The pic would be of a crowded club, or of them picnicking, etc. This is my assumption.
There are tons of places that are more attractive than Lebanon, more inspiring, culturally rich with amazing food and vibe. I llove my country but we need to wake up, Lebanon is the best place on earth in the eyes of few Lebanese; mainly those who never stepped out of Gemayze to see the real world…. Wake up, let’s admit our weaknesses and let’s find a way to attract a specific segment of tourists…
Jean
Jean,
Right on. The only kind of tourists that would find it attractive to come there; would be the one’s that read the soldier of fortune….
It has something to do with reverse psychology.. When someone tells you “Don’t open that door”, you will end up opening it.
it’s the oldest marketing technique in the book, It’s called reverse psychology!
many adds have used the same concept…
I don’t mind the title — reverse psychology as the others say — and I also don’t care whether or not it persuades people to go to Lebanon. People can and should do their own research if research is required. What I love about the video is that it truly seems to express the love the Lebanese have for their country.
you look in low def and it looks good, you look carefully in high def and it doesn’t look so good is my take.
Why would they do such a thing? Really?
After all, the world is telling their citizens not to go to Lebanon. It’s irony – not reverse psychology.
It’s a great ad and wherever that beautiful place is, I want to live there.
This makes me homesick to come back – so it worked on me! Miss and Love Lebanon. Fact: No other place is like it.
I agree that it’s irony and not reverse psychology.
Also, since it’s posted online and most of the stuff online are negative when you search for “Lebanon”. This will probably get more views because it’s titled this way. Moreover, it gives foreigners a different view of Lebanon than the one they usually see.
Also I disagree that it’s not the best time for tourists to come. It’s kinda traditional to have heightened political instability every summer. So now is as good as ever. Also there are awesome places people can visit especially since mount Lebanon almost no instability what so ever.
I agree that Lebanon isn’t the best country to live in, but we have a hell of a lot to offer when it comes to tourism. Think of all the cultural, historical, theological, and ecological sights tourists can visit..
Roy, the shame is that a lot of us living here would like to visit only as tourists and not have to deal with the rest of the crap.
