The Lebanese government decided this morning to extend the suspension of Iranian flights to Beirut beyond February 18th. The head of the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization stated that the Lebanese government requested the cancellation of all international flights from Iran to Beirut due to security concerns.
This ban follows an incident in which an Iranian plane was prevented from landing at Beirut airport, triggering riots and road closures by Hezbollah and Iranian supporters in Beirut. The Iranian and Lebanese foreign ministers are reportedly working to resolve the issue.
