Falcão, Paolo Maldini, Ryan Giggs, Vahid Shamsaee, Nabil Akaazoun and Zoran Rakicevic were in Beirut this weekend to meet their fans and play against Bank of Beirut’s futsal team. I was lucky enough to receive an invite to the private dinner on Friday and meet the players in person before the scheduled game on Saturday.

Since my brother couldn’t make it to the game, I thought I let him go the dinner on Friday and I will only attend the game on Saturday. Needless to say, the dinner was a blast, he met with his favorite all-time defender Paolo Maldini. He also took pictures with Falcão and Giggs and got everyone’s autograph.

On Saturday, I went down with my cousin and I have to admit I was pretty impressed with the level of organization and the show as a whole. I went down late but didn’t have any trouble finding a parking spot, we got to our seats in no time and everything started right on schedule. Of course there were also annoying people standing up for no reason and trying to get inside the field but no incident was reported. As far as the game is concerned, it was fun and both teams entertained the crowds especially Falcão and Nabil Akaazoun. Maldini was pretty lazy to be honest but it was good seeing him live nevertheless. The only remark I have was that the stands should have been higher as it was hard to see the whole field.

All in all, thumbs up to Sport Evasion and B-Production for this great event and to the Bank of Beirut team for their great display of Futsal.
