As i mentioned earlier this morning, i subscribed to the Internet mobile service on my phone and i started facing problems related to the loss of network over the day.
I contacted Alfa to see what’s happening and they were very unhelpful as usual and i kept losing the network even though i thought it was related to MSN only. Therefore i called Alfa back to cancel my subscription but i addressed my concern to the operator before moving on with my cancellation.
She told me and i quote: ” When you subscribe to the internet on Iphones, they take out signals from the services and therefore you lose your signals every time you connect to the Internet”.
There is no way in hell i fall for that, but i did not hesitate to cancel my subscription even if that meant losing 10$.
When you are using GPRS/Edge you can’t receive a phone call. It’s like being on dial up and someone tries calling your home. With 3G you don’t have that issue but there is no 3G in Lebanon. Just don’t have your iphone constantly connecting to the internet (ie have it check your email manually or at longer intervals) and you should be ok. Fuck msn and what the app and all that other crap.
there was an announcement that areas in and around universities in Beirut would be covered with 3g network by the end of last June, guess that didn’t work out pretty well for them.
Mark,
I rarely use MSN to begin with or that WhatsApp application but i cannot afford not to have any signals just because am using the internet.
@Mark Unless they install a Gs interface…
I still can’t believe how backward Lebanon’s internet connectivity is.
Mustapha,
Where do you see Lebanon as “forward”? Plastic surgery? Hummus contests?
largest flag in the world probably haha
I have alfa’s mobile internet, the regions around Beirut have Edge, other regions are still on GPRS.
While I am connected using Edge I can usually receive and make calls, I never tried using GPRS.
