I posted about this story a couple of months ago but I didn’t have much info on it. As it turns out, it’s an EU-funded project that helped build a 250kWh solar farm in the town of Qabrikha South of Lebanon.
This is a great project, which tackles two issues in one go: compensating for the power shortage that is endemic in Lebanon, while also minimizing pollution caused by auxiliary generators in almost every neighborhood in Lebanon. Apart from being a green solution to a decades-old problem, the solar farm has also decreased power fees for Lebanese residents benefiting from it by as much as 30%.
Stay tuned for more positive stories of how the EU is partnering up with Lebanese communities to make life better all over the country!
