I passed by Nahr el Kalb two days ago and the left side was closed for some reason. I thought it was an accident at first but once I reached the entrance of the tunnel, I saw them taking out the huge Patriarch poster and doing some works.
This is how it looked like the next day. As it appears, it’s part of an old restauration restoration project by Clean Lebanon to preserve this historic landmark. [Link]
This is how it is supposed to look like one day.
Note: I altered the picture since whatever was left of the Patriarch poster could be interpreted in a wrong way and that wasn’t my intention at all. Can’t believe I didn’t even notice it till someone pointed it out lol!
They should’ve started with the grass part. Now that the tunnel’s painted dark green instead of white I almost missed it at night with (of course!) our absence of any type of electricity or street ligthing.
what did the sign say?
coz the pic you took just says ‘shit’ and i’m most definitely sure that’s not what it originally said
Note: before everyone gets all up on me, this post is just a joke, i’m not belittling the Patriarch in any way.
Haha I didn’t pay attention to that. It said “you are the rock” or “inta el sakhra”.
Yeah don’t pretend you didn’t snap the word khara on purpose
-.- can’t tell if joking
I didn’t even notice the word when I took the picture. I was more focused on the works. You can have my word on that 🙂
hahahah!
Can’t believe I didn’t even notice it. I snapped the picture quick while driving but didn’t pay attention to the word. Anyway I modifeid the picture so that people won’t think I meant it.
nnnnnnnooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo 😛
NAJIB!!
WHY U NO KEEP PIC AS IT IS?
also might as well alter the last rendition of nahr l kalb tunnel..
there definitely won’t be any electricity in there lol
Lachou khayye? Bukra botla3 am cursing a religious figure wou ballout wou yaret kenet deryen.
A7san ma ykoun massis;)
Still taking pictures while driving??
There was traffic and cars were barely moving 🙂
“restauration”? It’s either French, or rare English, or by someone who goes a lot to restaurants 🙂
I took it from the CleanLebanon’s website. I know it’s rarely used but I like the term 🙂
I meant that it should be “restoration”. And I’m on a strict diet, I try to avoid anything that has “restaur…” 🙂
resto means restaurant too in French. Good luck on your diet!
It’s funny that even the car in the rendering doesn’t drive properly in its own lane.
roger,
it is actually driving on its lane. remember taht both sides of the tunnel lead to jounieh… (check actual photo above)
i do however agree that rendering is terrible… did you notice how the shadows are?
i mean each side of the tunnel is “shadowing” in the opposite direction!!
