I saw the flyer for this event few days ago and saw some pictures today on Joe’s blog. [Link]
It looks like a really nice show and it is good to know some people in Lebanon are keeping such classic cars which at some point belonged to great men in Lebanon intact and working.
The event will take place from July 8th until July 31st at the Beirut Souks, from 4 pm till 10 pm. [Event]
I highly recommend anyone to visit this museum. As a car passionate person, some of the displays just eek of soul. there are some very rare cars all in very good if not immaculate condition. the Jaguar XK120 from the 50s is perhaps my favorite, but also the BMW Isetta bubble car is a sight to relish.
the pair of cars that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up were the 60s Maserati Ghibly (in my opinion one of the most beautiful cars of all time), and the Ferrari Dino in the quintessential Ferrari Yellow.
there is also a very good condition Ford Model A (from the 30s if i remember correctly) that’s the car that got ford out of the Model T rut after 15 years in production.
there are many Rollers, Mercs, and an exquisite Desoto, as well as a few MG’s and a very cute if not very good conditioned Lotus Elan.
oh yeah, and the glorious E Type Jag…
the display will entertain and amaze kids and adults alike, it’s a must see…
i wasn’t much intrigued by the human factor to each car, i know many of them were owned and operated by past presidents and the like, but I’m a car person. however i must admit that the Human factor is a very interesting angle, I’ve never actually seen this in any other classic car show abroad, and it would add value to visitors that are not so into cars and more into the history of them in our country…
a big thanks for Billy Karam for making this happen and the organizers too…
