Information Minister Manal Abdel Samad has been lobbying for weeks now to give journalists and reporters priority in receiving the vaccine shot, and it looks like they will get vaccinated starting next week according to a statement by the Lebanese Press Syndicate.

It does make sense to give front-line journalists priority in receiving the vaccine, but the rollout has just begun and we need to prioritize health care workers, the elderly and those at high risk before vaccinating reporters & journalists. Also, we only received 28.5k doses and will receive as much next week, which aren’t enough to cover all front liners and people at high risk.

This being said, why are they being vaccinated so quickly then? What’s the rationale behind it?
