It’s obvious now that the Jounieh/Dora highways traffic problem is not going to be solves specially if they’re building bridge onramps right in the middle of the highway so how about the government builds a train track? Imagine how much traffic that would solve. I hate it how the government spends all their time fighting with each other instead of solving our current day to day problems. I’m pissed. For fucks sake we don’t even have 24 hour electricity yet!
Check out this article on Daily Star which talks about a guy called Elias Maalouf who wants to bring trains back to Lebanon. That’s a guy I respect. It’s probably a hopeless case but at least he’s passionate and doing something. [Link]
I tought about it month ago for a régional train on the bahrieh from jounieh to Beirut (and parkings bear casino Will be useful at this moment). But after i thought how lebanese people Will think. For those who take mini vans which pollute, we’ll Heard that is too expensive. The others who have cars, they Will say “la2 Ana a betla3 bi train isa ma fini e3ad, wa kamen ta emchi lal station, w please, ma fini wa2et bi koun fi chob dal 3am beftouss ben el jame3a”
So this Guy is a dreamer, but i hope he Will suceed!
HAHAAHA, i love the train idea, i even rode in one from Jounieh to Holiday beach when it existed, and we used to put coins on the track and watch them go flat and super hot…matchbox cars also…it was loads of fun, but people used to always park on the tracks and moving out of the way was better than watching top gear on slow motion…
anyway the train idea is brilliant, but i doubt it would happen, the country is too corrupted and there are more important thing. we can start with a well sorted busing grid.
plus if you want them to be electric, it would be an issue, and if they run on diesel, ticket prices will change every thursday, plus you need to build station…it’s a massive headache and people won’t use it anyway cause (badde koun horr) that’s what they will say.
and imagine the cock up it would be, people don’t even know how to keep a right to go to Dora, even the interior minister was blabbering on OTV the other day about the bridge being in the middle of the highway, it’s absurd…and people still insist on going on the extreme right lane to go to Dora…Newsflash there are three fast lanes on the left keep left and out of my effing way you dimwitted plesbian…
I thank god i don’t have a gun nor a big Hummer every-time i drive…

Until you have a safe, governed country this will never happen. The most basic of traffic rules are not implemented (seatbelts, speeding, driving on the wrong side of the road etc etc )a train service is a complete no go.
