UAE, Qatar and Bahrain have already banned the Hollywood film “Noah” because it contains scenes that are seen as offensive to Islam. I am not sure whether it will be banned in Lebanon as well but I highly doubt that it will get approved by the censorship bureau.
I wonder how long will it take us to realize that any form of censorship is wrong.
Update: Grand Cinemas told me on twitter that it will start showing on March 27th but they said it didn’t pass the censorship yet.
Censorship will keep on happening until “you” the Lebanese people stand up for freedoms..
Doesn’t look like it’ll be banned. Watched its trailer today during the pre-movie commercials at Cinemacity Beirut. Maybe they’ll cut out scenes metel ma 3awwadouna?
Technically the movie does not contain scenes offending Islam because the events depicted in the movie took place way before Islam existed. However, Islam prohibits the portrayal of prophets in movies in general. Shiite Muslims are more lenient on this but they still replace the faces of prophets with a bright light. In puritanical Sunni Islam, it is prohibited altogether.
As the movie will be downloaded in its entirety in homes and sold in “those” shops, what difference does the cutting of scenes or banning movies make? I mean, apart from showing the rest of the world how backwards we really are….
We can’t show this filth to our children!! just think of the repercussions. Every kid in the country will want to build an ark and collect animals and we dont have enough resources for either. You guys might be a little young, but I remember the day Pokemon came out. “Gotta catch them all!!” Oh the horror!! The HORROR!
Anyways remember Guns yes, intellect and sex no!
