“Bennesbeh Labokra Chou?” was brought to theaters back in January 2016 and as promised, M Media is rolling out a second Ziad Rahbani play and one of his most popular ones “Film Ameriki Tawil” in Mid-October. I will update you as soon as I have the exact date and which theaters it will be playing in.
You can check out the trailer [here].
Originally performed in 1980, the play is about seven mentally ill patients and two drug addicts in a psychiatric hospital in West Beirut during the civil war. Even amid their hysteria and unrest, the patients start to make more sense than those trying to cure them. When the absurdity of the situation becomes contagious and spills over the entire medical staff, a radical decision is made.
Whether or not we will all be shocked back into the system – that produced this mess in the first place – depends on your interpretation of the ending. Producer: Mercury

One can’t help but wonder why M Media is laying off half of its staff when it apparently has the money to produce two, not one, old Ziad plays. According to the company’s spokesman it cost them a fortune to remaster the sound and image in Hollywood.
