While hundreds were protesting against vaccination yesterday in Beirut, defying social distance guidelines and raising baseless claims, over 30,000 individuals including students, teachers and schools staff opted to get vaccinated and help protect themselves and others.

This comes as part of the 2-day COVID-19 vaccination marathon planned by the Health Ministry following a decision to reopen schools on January 10. This is a great turn out, but they should have planned this much earlier, not on the weekend before school reopens.

In all cases, a lot of schools are opting to keep teaching virtually at least until January 17th, which is understandable given that most schools are not properly equipped to respect social distancing rules, and the authorities aren’t providing much to help them cope with COVID guidelines.

Let’s hope the Omicron variant will fade away quickly and classes will resume ASAP for the sake of everyone.
