Wow these are decent speeds! Congrats. I wonder if this rate will be maintained as more and more clients join the network. None the less, this is fantastic. Mabrouk Lebnan!
The real question, as Hassan wondered, is if the service can scale.
You are one of 200 testers, and I’m assuming not more than 30 users were using the service at the same time you were testing the speed.
You know how the internet connection becomes faster at night because most people are sleeping? Your present 3G connection is the same situation on steroids. The real test should take place when enough people are using the service..
Mustapha,
A friend of mine who’s working with one of the Telecom companies on the 3G project told me to expect a lot of problems when it’s officially launched due to the problem you mentioned.
So I don’t think it will hold and doubt that I will have those amazing rates later on when it’s for everyone but I still think it beats what we had.
Remember that it might be priced highly and so not many people will subscribe to it.
Anyway, the connection speeds today during the day were half and even less than what I showed in the post.
According to the MTC person’s speech at SMW, each site will have a connection between 5 and 21MBs shared between all users, so it’s gonna suck if there isn’t enough sites when they do launch it. The fastest speed I got on Alfa 3G was 2MBs this morning.
meshe 3al iphones??? khat l sebet bas aw kmnl teshrij??
Nice connections. Faster than my home DSL.
But I wonder how much this would hold true once the service is activated and available to all the consumers.
