This picture was posted by YasaLebanon earlier this morning. While this accident may be due to recklessness from the driver, the public works that are being undertaken on the Dora highway are highly dangerous and clumsy.
In fact, they decided to take down the trees in the middle part that separates both sides of the highway for some reason and as a result, they are dropping rubble on both sides and leaving them as they are. Plus the bulldozers are stationed there in the middle part without any separators or warning signs for drivers. This driver is lucky for not crashing into one of them.
At some spots, the rubble is inside the lane as well.
taking down trees is a big mistake regardless of other mistakes they are doing unless, IF they are wiling to relocate the trees if they are not cut down anyways, i DOUBT they would do that unfortunately.
I love how our government can find ways to communicate with every citizen when they want votes, but not when they are about to undertake retarded road work schemes that also affect everyone.
How difficult would it be for the government to get a graphic designer to put up a schema explaining where the road works will be and how long it will take? They could post it up in the same places they stick up the photos of their smug, self-satisfied, greedy fat faces come election time.
Adding alternative routes to this may be asking too much as would following basic safety principles.
As for trees, the little ficus trees that were planted a couple of years ago along Gemmayzeh (in front of Ginette cafe) when they replaced the sidewalk have been smashed and torn and ripped up along with most of the said sidewalk.
It would be nice to see something other than a scorched earth policy in the approach to road “improvements”.
