Nokia released its latest smartphone yesterday, the new Lumia 1020 with an impressive 41 megapixels camera and the possibility of zooming up to 6 times without losing any image quality. The last Nokia model that featured a similar camera was the Pureview 808 model but it was running on Symbian which sucked.
To be honest, I love the Lumia phone for its camera (The Lumia 920 not the 900 camera though), design and hardware but my only problem is with the OS which is not as good as Android or iOS or is not evolving the way I thought it would. Nevertheless, the camera is becoming a crucial factor for any smartphone user so a six-lens 41-megapixel PureView camera paired with a Xenon flash could help Nokia gain few Android and iOS users, specially if the device is priced reasonably and if users can send their pictures to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc ..
Personally speaking, I might consider buying the Nokia Lumia 1020 if it’s not too expensive.
PS: I wouldn’t have hesitated one second in buying it if it was running on Android (which will probably never happen).
WP is much more stable and faster than Android and IOS
The only problem for some people is the apps there are only about 120000 apps in the WP store but they have all the important apps
what important apps? Instagram is not available yet. and that’s the highest rated app ever in Google Play or App Store. the YouTube and Facebook apps were so dreadful, that Microsoft decided to develop them, not the name-brand themselves. Vine is not available.
and many other consumer apps, who are probably not important for day-to-day use, but that says a lot about how much developers are ready to invest in WP. I think that ship has sailed long time ago.
Instagram, Vine are available as third party apps… however they’re both being worked on from the official developers.
Youtube app that Microsoft developed is probably the best youtube app compared to any other platform. As for the Facebook app its just like any other facebook app available.

What is it that you can do with Android or iOS but not with WP8?
The OS is as good as android and iOS, its even better and that’s coming from a galaxy nexus and iPad owner. The only problem with it is the lack of apps and that’s the only reason I did not switch to WP yet.
Najib, what the article meant by ‘crazy’ is that it is too high. It costs 300$ on-contract 🙂
That means you can buy two Nexus 4s and pocket 100$.
Also I’m a bit concerned about the processor, it seems highly under powered.
not sure if you should be concerned about the processor. just because a device doesn’t have the “fastest/most efficient” processor, doesn’t necessarily mean “highly under powered” (that’s so far-fetched).
what i mean is, you might not really need a high processor as long as the architecture of the device is good enough. let’s not forget budget/selling-price…
overall, seems like a good** phone!

We’re on the same boat! I love their Lumia series especially their camera only that i find the phone running slow compared to OS and android phones but yeah, you really can’t ask too much when it has much of that megapixels.haha
