Condé Nast Traveler announced the winners of its 26th annual Readers’ Choice Awards two days ago and Beirut made it as one of the World’s best cities. It’s quite surprising to be honest to see Beirut on that list, specially after the past two years we had and the ongoing Syrian war. Let’s hope things will get better in Lebanon this year so we could improve on that ranking.
You can check out the full list [Here].
World’s best cities
The “Top 25 Cities in the World” list had refreshingly surprising additions and rankings — Paris came in at a lowly 22 while Bruges and Cape Town tied for 11th place.
Budapest and Florence tied for second, while the very top spot was seized by the colonial city of San Miguel de Allende in central Mexico, which took the crown from last year’s favorite of Charleston, South Carolina (which was tied for fifth this year).
Italy snapped up five of the top 25 cities, while Spain managed to take three.
Despite its slide in the global rankings, Charleston was still voted the top city in the United States for the third year in a row, for its “sand, sun, history, good food and friendly people.”

i doubt this list, because i think Dubai is among the top 5 cities
dubai? go live there if u can, i dare to go out in the summer, you are just freakn jealous
you*
this is shit of many many bulls!
There are way better cities than Beirut ,i think Beirut should be in top 40 but not top 25
I cannot believe how the 3 top comments took it negatively rather than finding in it some sort of content…
Dubai is a city with no soul in it… just beautiful buildings and roads (what lebanese consider basic elements for a city) while Beirut has its charm, its history, its diversity and most importantly it has a SOUL.
so yes, it deserves to be there and screw all jealous neighbors 🙂
Yes, because a city that has a “Soul” puts food on the table and provides infrastructure and safety.
lebanon has NO infrastructure, public transport, public beaches, no urban planning, fuckin expensive country which DEFINITELY doesnt make us the best country in the world this is the least to say i dont know according to what they ranked us like this
rob you are a real idiot. Get your facts straight
After 30 years of war and Beirut is ranked the 20 best cities that is amazing, I have been to Beirut few times, never seen such a beautiful city, it beautiful by nature, not manmade like Las vegas, Dubai and Isreal…. and all the other cities in Paris, Spain….. with no war and Beirut ranked better, and all this is based on the individual effort of the Lebanese people, so the other countries have lot of work to do to catch up with Beirut. And the people that are jealous that Beirut ranked 20th, they need to see a shrink, instead of being happy for a country just came out of 30 year war and its making its way up the ladder, they just felt jealous. Get a life….
What people don’t seem to fully understand is that Conde Nast has ranked these cities as best tourist destinations. There are other sites on Facebook where you can find best cities that were valued according to their standard of living; The standard of living in Beirut may not be the best, but it’s a lot better than many cities around the world. But that’s not the point! The cities that ranked 25 best were given such rankings from a touristic point of view.
Besides, If the city that you live in had gone through all the hardship of civil war, invasion, occupation and destruction, you would all be proud of it for rising up from the rubble and ashes time and again yet remaining as beautiful as ever and continuing to be prosperous despite all the above mentioned factors. Give Beirut and Lebanon a fricken break will you?
