Kafa organized a demonstration yesterday in front of the National Musuem to end domestic violence against women and in support of the victims’ families, specially after the brutal murder of Sara al Amin a week ago. On the same day and in a different location, a man was caught on camera beating a woman inside her car. Al Jadeed are saying he’s an official and that the woman is his wife but I can’t confirm both. What’s sure is that he was beating her in public and no one intervened to help the poor woman, which brings me back to the post I wrote a few days ago on how Lebanese need to protect women being assaulted in public or inside their houses.
If I had seen this guy, I would have definitely rushed and kept him away from this woman and I am sure a lot of people would have done the same. I am not here blaming the guy who filmed the whole thing as it’s a personal choice after all, but we need to take action against abusive individuals and shame them while protecting the victim.
I will follow up on this story and see if this guy’s name is revealed since he’s an official and the head of a municipality according to Al Jadeed.
Kafa is doing a great job with awareness and all but as long as we live in a patriarchal backwarded society some things will never change especially that men think that they own their wives hence they can behave any way they want with her as if she is a piece of meat.
TFEH at this kind of mentality and behavior!!!
What an A hole. How can someone just stand there and watch?!
Assuming I were to punch someone doing something like that in the face, would I go to jail for it?

Just read the above. The whole freaking culture is so rotten! Just read the piece. It is so wrong in so many ways (IT IS WRITTEN SO WRONG)…The guys loses his ‘temper” and shoots her? What kind of animal kingdom is this? Every time someone loses temper?….
It is the water!!
Sorry this is comment I read not Antoine Abou Jaoude but amine Abou Jaoude : the comment I read says :His name is Amine Aboujaoudé. He’s a lawyer and heads the municipality of kabanet broumana.
She now has a proof of how her husband treats her. She can at least use it against him in courts ( that is what she told the person who filmed the scene and rushed to help after he took this video, it was not the first time and she had no proof of it) At least we found out who he was and how he treats his wife. Wearing a tie does not make him a gentleman…..disgusting man
Isn’t it more useful for someone to film it and help the woman by having proof instead of trying to “save” her?
And what if the crazy man has a gun?
Enough with asking why they won’t rush in to help, unless they’re a group of people, one person can’t do much.
Let’s hope you are never in a bad spot looking for good hearted Samaritans to help you. You could just tell them to “film” you until you are road kill. Good idea!
