The Beirut Cultural Festivals kick off on June 28th and preparations are still underway for the two brilliant productions that will be exclusively orchestrated and executed by talented Lebanese musicians and artists, and will be projected on the largest screen in the world.
Many asked me if it was truly the largest screen in the world and the Guinness World Record people were here yesterday to confirm that the 2,446 square meters screen set up at Beirut’s Hippodrome is the largest stereoscopic 3D projection in the world, surpassing the previous record by almost 900 square meters.
“A Journey Through Time” and “Alwan Beirut” will be shown on that screen. You can check out further info [here].
Hi, it’s cool that you’re excited for this event.
However, are you sure about the information given? Those might seem like technicalities, but:
Is it really a stereoscopic display?
Also, isn’t the ‘3D projection’ term excessive? I mean the mapping to an arc is regular cinematic projection, unless there are large edified structures to be projected on, which BCF didn’t announce yet.
If it’s really a stereoscopic system that’s been put in place, the engineering team deserves praise and applause: It’s a very challenging feat and those guys deserve to be credited!
(Note: I tried getting this information myself, unsuccessfully)
