Yesterday evening, and in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to declare Jerusalem the capital of “Israel”, images of Jerusalem’s Church of the Holy Sepulcher and Al-Aqsa Mosque were projected against the facades of central Beirut’s Mohammad al-Amine Mosque and St. George Cathedral. Pretty much everyone was opposed to Trump’s decision, including the European Union, the UN, the Pope but I’m not sure how statements will change what’s happening on the ground. If anything, this decision will lead to even further instability in the region and potential new wars.
