Gino’s post on the 8 reasons why AUB Cats are more awesome than you reminded me of how much I hated the cats back when I was a student at the American University of Beirut.
They were everywhere and always hungry and trying to kick them away could have cost us a dean’s warning. I did however push one into the fountain. Cats in AUB Rules & Policies and Cat’s Program
Cats are so popular in AUB that there are two Facebook groups dedicated to loving or hating them:
I love the way AUB has more cats than students
I hate cats especially AUB cats
They are extremely clever too. They notice you coming through Main Gate and wait for you till you sit down. They then sit a meter away and stare at you waiting for food!
Even though I did sorta bash them, deep-down, I love those kitties =D
And thanks for the shout-out Najib!
Wow, and I thought the LAU Beirut cats were a crowd…
I hate it when they sit and stare while you’re eating. It seems they even like chinese!!!
BTW Najib, we don’t have a fountain anymore 🙁
Yeah I saw that when I came down few weeks ago. I loved sitting next to the fountain.
Amazing. You choose the one place in Lebanon where someone is trying to be nice to cats and found a way to complain about it.
What’s next, are you going to complain about how mentally handicapped kids stare at you?
And if we’re going to complain about staring in Lebanon, then we should start with people. I never go back to Lebanon without being amazed at how men ogle and women stare you up and down to check out the competition.
aaa,
First of all your “mentally handicapped kids” example is honestly sick. What do cats have to do with children with a certain medical condition?
Second of all, I did not ask AUB to get rid of the cats. I dont like cats like many do and I just said it. Am not complaining rather than stating facts.
So badna nrou2.
The “fact” that you pushed a cat into a fountain and would have liked to kick them away, implies that you not only dislike cats but are actively mean to them.
Why would you do that to a cat for just staring at you? It’s a cat and can’t help it. It’s what it does. You’re sick for being mean to a hungry cat. Would you push one of the little 8-9 year old kids who beg in traffic into a fountain? Or kick them?
Never mind. Someone like you just might.
we wrote about these cats at Mashallah News a few weeks back, check:
