Earlier in December, SMEX as well as several online activists raised doubts regarding the security measures taken to protect the data being captured on the Health Ministry’s MOPH Pass platform.

As it appears, the platform which wasn’t even secured when launched (using HTTP) was seriously compromised and data got leaked/retrieved including the passport data of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterred when he visited Lebanon back in mid-December.

No one knows how much data got leaked, but this platform contains the information of all travelers into and from Beirut. The good news is that IMPACT’s platform, where all Lebanese register for their COVID vaccines, is in no way related to the ministry’s platform and should be properly secured and monitored.
