Lebanese fathers are currently entitled to one paternity day while maternity leave was extended to 70 days a couple of years ago. The government has recently approved extending the paternity leave to three days but it still needs to be approved in the parliament. Lebanon has scored for years now the lowest rates in terms of women political empowerment and I'm not expecting a major change in the upcoming elections simply because there's no willingness from most political parties to promote the role of women in Lebanese politics but any improvement on the current number will be more than welcome. A picture and a video are being circulated today showing the Burj Hammoud landfill being swamped by rising waters. The authorities have been dumping the whole garbage mountain into the sea for months now and it looks like the latest storm made their job even easier. This year seems to be a repeat of 2014 when it barely snowed and ski resorts were closed most of the time. Mzaar Ski resort has announced that it's doing its best to open the slopes this Saturday but we desperately need more snow to keep the slopes open for a couple of weeks at least. The Cedars ski slopes are the only ones open right now according to SkiLeb.
