Two deaths and three injuries were the result of the accident that occurred yesterday in Mazraat Yachouh when a truck lost its brakes and crashed into four cars. One of those cars was my friend’s uncle’s car who was lucky enough to escape with minor damage to the car.
This is not the first major accident on that stretch of road and I wonder how many deaths are needed before officials make a move. Maybe they are waiting for a real tragedy like a bus full of children or elderly men and women?
This was a Honda Civic
No clue what that car was
The truck driver escaped
Thanks Cyril for the pics
Holy molly… WTH?
Trucks don’t just loose their brakes. it’s got to do with maintenance driving habits and other stuff…poor people in the small cars. it must have been horrific. may they rest in peace.
I’m an auto expert and even i can’t tell what that silver car in the picture was…but whatever it was, for the passenger safety cell to fail as such, means a great amount of speed was involved before the actual impact(s). truck might have been a runaway for some time…God help the truck driver as well…
hey i’m sorry for my late reply .. but i’m the daughter (tracy noun; 13 years this year) of the victim colette noun. The car was a small clio. in fact the accident ocurred on her way to pick me up from school. now what i have known by my research and acknowledged details as soon as my mother saw the truck she parked far away from the scene, and the truck smashed the 2 other cars and finally hit something that made it roll and roll until finally it reached my mom and took the car with it and continued on rolling. it’s definitely the most horrific thing that ever happened to my family. i just wanted to present my condolences to the other families and also wanted to say to the truck owner and the truck driver shame on you for making suck a mess of our society and endagered our beloved families.
such a mess **
The blood of these people is on the government’s hands.
RIP Talal Kassem and Mohammad Dimashkieh (two students who were ran over while crossing the street a few months ago).
GOD REST THEIR SOULS 🙁 mish 7a2 la 3al dawley wala 3al tor2at, 7a2 3ala kil wa7ad bissoo2 biwa7shaney, in this case the truck driver who akid wanted to by pass those cars. i use this road almost everyday and the only ones who always seem to b in a hurry and try to bypass little cars by honking and being aggressive are the truck drivers. ma khass il dawley khassna ni7na il sha3ib.
don’t get me wrong but i have a very neutral stand toward the government and the people running it.
RIP Talal Kassem and Mohammad Dimashkieh
That is awful. I don’t know much about the area…Just a question: Doesn’t Lebanon have Transportation Ministry roving inspectors to check up on these trucks whether they are Road ready or not?
Jeff,
Remember this is the same transportation ministry who allowed to close the Dbayyeh bridge for a fashion show.
If you expect him to send out inspectors on the road, good luck with that 🙂
After the investigations were complete, turns out the break rod (chrit l-frem) was broken before and was rejoined manually by hand (marnbout rabet) like a shoelace, that’s why the driver lost the breaks.
oh and thank you all for your condolences
