I attempted updating my iPhone4’s software to iOS 5.0 three months ago but it was disconnecting every time with my WISE 512Kb connection. I had to wait until I got my 1Mb DSL connection and I was finally able to upgrade to iOs 5.1 this morning. It took me 3 or 4 attempts but it finally worked!
DSL so far is proving to be much faster than WISE. In fact and since I still have my WISE connection until the end of the month, I will attempt downloading the same file at the same time and see how long it takes using each connection.
Unluckily for me though, it seems that the Apple is experiencing some technical difficulties as I am unable to download anything from the App store neither from my iPhone nor from iTunes on the laptop.
Update: AppStore and ITunes are working now.
Dude you can download the update as an ipsw file on your computer and then install it from itunes on your iphone
I know about that but I don’t like it.
512kb DSL is faster than a 512kb WISE so obviously a 1MB DSL is also faster than a 512kb WISE. You don’t need tests to know that…
Also a better comparison would be wireless to wireless like Wise vs 3G but the answer is also obvious. (3G in case you didn’t know)
Assuming I am actually getting a 1Mb, it should be faster. What I had in mind was trying it during the day and during the non peak hours.
Ogero people told me my phone line is weak and can’t handle more than 1 mbyte
for reasons I can’t understand yet and nothing can be done unless they change the phone cables coming to the house.
