I headed to Gemmayze today for the car-free day organized by Achrafieh2020 and everyone was having fun and enjoying their day, specially the children. Unfortunately though, the past two days have been also car-free in Tripoli due to the renewed clashes between Beb el Tebbane and Jabal Mohsen. The fights are getting worse every time and innocent civilians are paying the price every time. Nine people were killed (including 1 soldier) so far and over 50 were injured.

Some of the pictures I am receiving are horrible and I’d rather not post them to be honest. All I know the Lebanese Army should either let the two sides kill each other and then intervene or storm both camps and kick these gunmen out of the city.

Army will never intervene as both sides are fully funded by politician. Seriously, in tebbaneh they barely have enough to buy bread. How do you think they get all those bullets, AK47, grenades, etc…
Official army in western country doesn’t even train with real bullets because of its cost. And these monkey fire in the air every 5 sec to celebrate their leaders speach, an “ennemy” death, …
Just to give you an idea about the country we’re living in. Today, while driving in downtown, close to Kataeb’s headquarter in Saifi, a car just stops literally in the middle of the road blocking cars, a young fellow stepping out, at the same time, a car was coming from a different side. So the young fellow jumps on that car, starts stomping it with his leg, and then opens the door and starts hitting the guy inside, I saw him pulling something out, no idea if it’s a stick or a knife, and kept hitting the guy inside who was not even able to get out. I kept driving, and there is the army spot right next to the gray hotel and the mosque there, so I informed them since they are only like 200 meters away, and they responded coldly: “ya latif”, without any rush to do any other action, like informing other units or any kind of authority (in case they cannot leave their spot). I waited for a couple of seconds, and kept looking back in my mirror if they moved to do anything, but in vain!
Regardless of the type of accident, even if it is just personal matters, werent they supposed to at least have a better reaction than sarcasm?!
So yea, talking about bigger incidents in Tripoli, I wounder what their comment would be, “ya mama” perhaps?
