A pelican was injured and sought refuge at Batroun’s port a few months ago, where a local fisherman took it under his care. The two formed an unlikely bond, spending their days walking, playing, and swimming together. Named Bajjou3a, the pelican has since become a beloved figure in Batroun and an internet sensation. Visitors flock to the port to take photos with the bird, feed it, or even enjoy a paddleboarding session with it, as seen in this Instagram post. Bajjou3a even appeared in a popular Ramadan TV series currently airing.
The exact cause of the pelican’s injury remains unclear, though it’s suspected that it may have been shot. Regardless, it’s heartening to know that the bird is being well cared for.
