The council’s president Abdel-Hadi Mahfouz Monday called on all Lebanese website hosts to register their websites at the council and said they would begin accepting applications Nov. 1.
Mahfouz didn’t specify the types of websites that need to register or the technical means to be used to create such a database. [DailyStar]
I go on and on in criticizing this law, but Mustapha said it best:
“It’s like asking us to walk into a prison so that they could protect us from murder.”
Karl from KarlreMarks Blog shares also our views on this matter.
I honestly feel so angry while reading such news! The internet is a free space for everyone to express himself. Look at egypt after the revolution, People are arrested for a simple status that criticize the army for not protecting the Christians !
Look at here, in this country in lebanon, hady mahfouz is searching for any reason to shut up thousands of site and blogs that does not abide by his rules and don’t fit with his own believes !
The sad part is that i don’t feel we are able to face it!
As for my blog, i will keep on criticizing Obama, Sarkozy, Cameron, Ban Ki Moon etc… mentioning “Occupy Wall street” news (Anti Imperialism) and never mention Mahfouz’s leaders so that i remain safe !
Nothing personal, but by looking at Mr. Mahfouz, he reminds me of the old days of the 70s, how come such people can handle 21 century matters and the technology speed that runs at the light speed.
Let them first stop the shitty things we hear and watch on the local TVs, they are scared from them and they can’t stop any program belong to their allies.
JUST LEAVE US IN PEACE
