I came across Handiss the other day, and I must say I loved what this Lebanese startup is doing. Basically, Handiss is a web platform that connects engineers and architects to companies or individuals that need their services.

Handiss was founded by two Lebanese engineers that lived and worked in the GCC, but decided to come back to Lebanon and give fellow engineers and architects an easy solution to find work that fits their schedule and ambitions.

Handiss was recently selected along with 7 other start-ups to go through a 3-month acceleration program at UK Lebanon Tech Hub, which means they’re gonna be growing and expanding further.

This is a great initiative, especially given how bad the job market is for architects and engineers in Lebanon at the moment. It’s hard to find a full-time job with so many engineers and architects, so this platform could help those struggling to find the right job, without sitting at home doing nothing in the meantime. It’s also a great place to find a side-project to go along with your full time job.

One thing I was delighted to hear when I had a chat with the Handiss team, is that their platform is 33% women engineers and architects, which is remarkable, given that only 11% of the professional construction market worldwide are women.
