Aerial shots showing the massive new US embassy campus in Awkar have been circulating online in the past week. The new US Embassy in Lebanon will remain in Awkar and will be built over an area of 174,000 square meters at a cost of around $1 billion. They practically bought the whole mountain on top of the existing embassy and construction should be done by 2023.
The embassy was designed by Morphosis Architects and Alabama-based B.L. Harbert has won the tender for its construction. Here are few pictures of how it should look like once done.
As far as being one of the largest in the world, US Embassies are huge anywhere you go but a 43-acre embassy would put it second largest behind the one in Baghdad.
