Joseph Gerges is a 2-year old boy who was diagnosed with a Severe Combined Immune Deficiency (SCID) due to a mutation in gene SP110 that leads to life-threatening liver fibrosis. The only cure for the SCID to prevent liver fibrosis is allogenic bone marrow transplant from a healthy donor and the cost is around $850,000. Jose’s parents and friends have been campaigning for weeks and they were finally able to reach their goal and will be performing Jose’s surgery soon.

To be honest, I was worried they’d never be able to collect this colossal amount and I’ve been sharing the donation link with many friends but they did it thanks to everyone’s help and MTV Lebanon’s support which is great news!

Let’s hope Jose recovers quick and gets a new chance in life.

On this special day, we would like to take a moment and thank everyone who stood by our side and never left us for a second. We reached our goal and it couldn’t have happened without your generosity. Thank you MTV Lebanon for the amazing effort. We will update you on Jose’s surgery in no time. [FB Page]

PS: The donation link is only showing 20% of the amount collected so far but Hope4Jose’s FB page confirmed they collected the needed amount.
