UN-Habitat and UNICEF Neighborhoods 2018 studies of Tripoli's Jabal Mohsen, El-Qobbeh, and Tabbaneh revealed staggering poverty rates ranging from 55 to 60 percent. Two members of Beirut's municipal council have submitted a proposal aimed at banning plastic bags in Beirut starting September 1st 2019 and replacing them with reusable bags. Lebanese singer and actress Hiba Tawaji announced on Twitter that she is the voice of Jasmine in the French version of the new Aladdin film, which was released last Wednesday in Le Grand Rex theatre in Paris.
