Lebanese composer and singer Melhem Barakat passed away today at the age of 74 after a battle with illness. He was one of the most popular singers and composers in the Middle East and was my favorite Lebanese singer. I knew most of his songs by heart and still listen to him from time to time. Not only did Public Transport syndicates block roads all across Lebanon yesterday, but they apparently tried to force taxi drivers to join the protest and beat up some of them.
