Lebanon issued its first coins in 1924 in denominations of 2 and 5 with the French denominations given in Syrian piastres. Lebanon's central bank is set to launch an electronic foreign currency trading platform to try and stabilize the exchange rate of the US dollar to the Lebanese pound.
