I’ve started carpooling with an old friend who recently became a colleague of mine and happens to be living near my house. I think it is great as it is very tiring to drive sometimes specially in the morning plus you get to save gas. The only inconvenient is that our working hours are not fix and I rarely leave on time, which could be problematic.
Anyway, there’s a Lebanese website now dedicated to carpooling in Lebanon and to finding car mates. I am not sure how much it will work but I think it’s a great initiative.
PS: We carpooled using my car today and I won’t be going back home straight forward. Sorry R!
Dang that’s a great idea, been trying to convince people about it in my office since i started, but they are strictly opposing it. Carpooling has a few sacrifices, but nothing that is not remedial, with proper communication and some straightforwardness and a dab of commitment, it should work smoothly,
Has anyone tried it yet? I am wondering who would use this – if I car pool it would be under certain circumstances because my working hours are wack.
I’m registering now, and looking forward to do my first ride to test things out. I usually tend to try to pick people up from my neighborhood if they happen to be walking to the bus stop or something to help them save a bit, since i’m going there anyway.
but Yasmine, with a hectic schedule, it’s better if you either find someone close you work with, having the same wacky schedule, or doing it alone, and offering to help whenever you can.
the hardest thing about carpooling is keeping it mind and sticking to it. you can’t let people down last minute if you are the driver, they are depending on you to bring them back lets say, if you change your mind and want to go meet friend the other way, you’re not thinking right about it. Carpooling requires a bit of commitment as i mentioned before, better not do it if you’re not going to do it right, because you will disappoint a lot of people, something I’m sure you wouldn’t want someone to do to you…
Agree, the website is not very wasy to follow, still waiting for my registration email for like 2 hours
Fantastic initiative! Thanks for sharing..I’m going to spread the news.
